Homicide At Cantigny Post VFW In Joliet: 40-Year-Old Dies

Joliet police responded to the Cantigny Post property on Saturday night after someone was shot several times on the property.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English announced that a 40-year-old man was killed Saturday night during a shooting at the Cantigny Post 367 VFW Hall property. Nobody has been arrested in connection with the city's latest homicide.

The Will County Coroner's Office identified the shooting victim as Aaron E. Harris of Joliet. He was pronounced dead at St. Joe's hospital at 10:08 p.m.

Squad cars sped to the VFW Hall, 826 Horseshoe Drive, after learning that someone was shot in the parking lot at 9:40 p.m. There was a social event taking place at the VFW on Saturday night, according to police.

"Officers located a 40-year-old male victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds while in the parking lot," English announced.

A Joliet Fire Department ambulance rushed the gunshot victim to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center where he died. An autopsy will take place on Monday, the coroner's office said.
