Homicide Victim Jonathan Ceballos 'Was Great Brother, Friend'

Carlos Ceballos has organized a GoFundMe to pay for his 22-year-old brother's funeral expenses.

JOLIET, IL — A total of 218 people have donated a combined $8,760 to pay for the funeral expenses of 22-year-old Joliet resident Jonathan Ceballos. He and Holly Matthews, also 22, were both found fatally shot at the scene of Saturday night's party at 1018 East Jackson St.

Several other people at the party also suffered gunshot wounds and one of them remained in critical condition on Monday.

Carlos Cebellos organized a GoFundMe called "Funeral Fundraising."

"He was a great brother, friend and son I remember how much you used to love riding horses, going to Mexico, how we used to play soccer together all the time and how you always made people laugh," the homicide victim's brother posted in the GoFundMe.

One family who donated $100 wrote: "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Ceballos family -our Soccer family. Rest In Peace Jonathan."

According to ABC, Matthews was studying to be an arborist at Joliet Junior College and just got engaged two weeks ago. Ceballos was remembered by a friend as a talented athlete and straight-A student.
