Horrific Black Road Crash: Joliet Police Reveal How It Happened
Joliet police had to close a portion of Black Road on Tuesday night after the young woman from Plainfield was seriously hurt.

JOLIET, IL — A 24-year-old Plainfield woman who crashed into a tree and suffered serious injuries during Tuesday's 6 p.m. wreck on Black Road, also struck two other vehicles as she drove eastbound along Black Road near Midland Avenue, Joliet police announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The woman was taken by helicopter to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. The drivers of the two other vehicles she crashed into, a 76-year-old Joliet man, and a 51-year-old Joliet man, were not injured, during the wreck.

- The Plainfield woman was driving her Hyundai Elantra in the right lane eastbound on Black Road from Midland Avenue when she collided into the rear of a Ford Transit van driven by a 51-year-old man from Joliet who had four passengers in his vehicle.
- The Elantra then swerved to the left and then back to the right, crossing in front of the Ford Transit.
- The Elantra then struck the rear of an eastbound Subaru Legacy driven by a 76-year-old Joliet resident. The Elantra then left the roadway to the south, striking a tree and causing the car to roll over back onto the roadway.
- The Plainfield woman was extricated from her overturned car by the Joliet Fire Department and was then airlifted by helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in serious condition.
- Black Road remained closed for many hours as the crash scene was reconstructed. This crash remains under investigation by the Joliet Police Department Traffic Division.
