House Fire On Glenwood Avenue: Joliet Fire Department Battalion Chief Reveals What Happened

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Fire Department battalion chief Nick Carbaugh has issued a press release revealing more details of Tuesday afternoon's house fire on Glenwood Avenue.

He noted that at 3:52 p.m., the Joliet Fire Department responded to 1200 block of Glenwood Avenue for a report of a possible structure fire with smoke showing.

The first units arrived within four minutes of the call. Upon investigation, crews found fire in the kitchen area of a single-story residential home. Responding crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control and prevent exposure to neighboring buildings.

He said the residents were not home at the time of the fire. The scene was declared under control within 30 minutes. Fire crews from Joliet Fire Stations 1, 5, 6, and 8 were on scene. The fire is currently under investigation.
