Husky Dragged To Death At Joliet Apartment, Owner Arrested: Police
The dog was overheard in extreme distress and people heard a man in the upstairs apartment screaming at the dog, Joliet police announced.

JOLIET, IL — A 22-year-old Joliet resident is now in the Will County Jail facing aggravated animal cruelty charges after Joliet police say Sebastian Trujillo dragged his female husky named Jillo to her death Monday afternoon. The dog was heard screaming by other tenants inside the apartment house, according to police spokesman Dwayne English.
Monday's Joliet police incident happened shortly before 3 p.m. in the 100 block of Clement Street, on the city's near west side. Joliet police said Trujillo lives at that apartment house.
"Officers learned that a dog had been overheard in extreme distress as well as a male screaming at the dog coming from the upstairs apartment," Joliet Police Sgt. English notified Joliet Patch.

English said his fellow officers talked to Trujillo, the upper level apartment tenant, who told them that Jillo, his female husky breed dog, had died.
"It appeared that Trujillo had used a thin (leash) with a noose-like collar to drag the dog across the floor of the apartment to place her in a cage, at which time the dog’s body fell limp, and she passed away," Joliet police said.

Joliet officers found the dead dog in the bathroom of the apartment, English noted, and Trujillo was hauled away from his residence in handcuffs.
In addition to the dead dog, police found another additional husky dog that was still alive inside Trujillo's apartment, and that dog was removed from the premises by Joliet Township Animal Control, English said.
Will County's Jail logs indicated Trujillo was booked into custody around 5:30 p.m. Monday.
A bail hearing for the resident of Clement Street was set for mid-afternoon Tuesday at the Will County Courthouse.
