I-80 Joliet Crash: Seriously Injured Driver Extricated From Car

The Joliet Fire Department said Friday morning's crash along Interstate 80 involved one car.

JOLIET, IL — A man was seriously injured Friday morning when he lost control of his car while driving along Joliet's stretch of Interstate 80. Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said firefighter/paramedics from Stations 1 and 5 rushed the man by ambulance to St. Joe's hospital.

The man was in critical condition, the chief said. The wreck happened around 7:40 a.m.

The driver, whose age was not immediately available, was driving westbound near Moen Avenue when he crashed into the concrete sign barrier after veering off the highway.

Firefighters had to extricate the crash victim from his car, the fire chief said.

The Illinois State Police is investigating the crash.
