IL Rock & Roll HOF Voting Underway: Smashing Pumpkins? Eddie Vedder?

Hall of Fame nomination votes are cast by the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum's charter members.

JOLIET, IL — Illinois’ contribution to music and entertainment will be on stage at the Rialto Square Theatre on Sunday, October 20th when the Illinois Rock and Roll Museum on Route 66 in Joliet holds its 4th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Award Ceremony.

The museum is at 9 West Cass Street in downtown Joliet, across from The Forge.

“The Class of ‘24 continues to show our commitment to honoring all genres of music as well as the amazing talent whose roots can be traced to Illinois,” said Ron Romero, the museum’s executive director and chairman of the board, in Monday's press release. “Hall of Fame nomination votes are cast by the museum’s charter members. It’s not too late to become a member and vote on this year’s nominees."

Nominations for the Artist/Performer category include: Nick Colionne, Smashing Pumpkins, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Howlin’ Wolf, Bo Diddley, Curtis Mayfield, Richard Marx, Alison Krauss, Mavis Staples, Herbie Hancock, The Chi-Lites and Warren Zevon.

The Record Label category includes Vee-Jay, Delmark, Dunwich and Pravda.

Nominations for Song Writer includes Steve Goodman, Tim Drummond, Willie Dixon, Eddie Vedder, Lionel Ritchie, Jerry Butler and Tom Morello. The Radio Personality category includes Bob Stroud, Mitch Michaels, Steve Dahl, Terri Hemmert, Herb Kent and Jonathon Brandmeier.

Radio stations up for induction include: WCFL, WVON, WDCB and WWCT (105.7 FM).

A variety of Charter Membership levels are open to the public by visiting the museum’s website at www.RoadToRock.org. Charter Membership includes voting rights for the annual Hall of Fame as well as free admission to the museum during regular hours, a 10 percent discount on all Gift Shop items, Members Only Events for special events and exhibits, as well as pre-sale notices for special events.
