Intruder Attacks Older Woman In Joliet Township

The crime occurred on Davison Street, which is near South Briggs Street and Mills Road.

JOLIET, IL - The Will County Sheriff's Department has not made any arrests yet in connection with a violent crime that occurred two weeks ago in Joliet Township's 1100 block of Davison Street, which is near South Briggs Street and Mills Road. An elderly woman told the Will County Sheriff's Department that she heard a knock on her door around 6 a.m. on September 29. When she answered the door, a young man who looked to be 18 to 25 years old put his hand over her face and stormed inside. That's when he threatened to kill her, according to the sheriff's department.

When the woman tried to get away from his clutch, he punched her in the face. The woman ultimately escaped and got outside. Police said the robber got into the woman's bedroom and rummaged through her stuff. He left in a getaway car, police said. The victim was treated by the East Joliet Fire Department, but she refused to be hospitalized. The woman told Will County deputies that she did not know if the attacker stole anything from her house at the time the police report was taken.

The Will County Sheriff's Department did not have a more detailed suspect description available or information regarding the robber's getaway car.
