It's Buddy Guy Weekend For Joliet's Downtown, 2 Rialto Shows
Buddy Guy kicked off his 2023 Damn Right Farewell Tour Friday night in Rockford. He's at the Rialto Saturday and Sunday nights.

JOLIET, IL — Blues legend Buddy Guy will be keeping downtown Joliet's restaurants and bars packed this weekend as Guy puts on back to back shows on Saturday night and again Sunday night at downtown's historic Rialto Square Theatre.
Saturday night's Rialto show begins at 8 p.m. while Sunday night's concert is at 7 p.m. Both shows are practically sold out, according to Ticketmaster.
The Rialto reminds guests that its doors open one hour prior to the show and seats open 30 minutes up prior to showtime.

Guy was part of the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum's first Illinois Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees for 2020. The downtown Joliet museum founded by Ron Romero expects to open in the coming months. It's two blocks away from the Rialto on Cass Street and it just celebrated its nationally publicized addition of GIGANTAR, the world's largest outdoor hand-sculpted guitar.
The first floor includes a radio station as well as memorabilia collected from several famous Illinois musicians and bands including Cheap Trick, Buddy Guy, Styx, REO Speedwagon and Chicago.

Last October, the Rialto booked Guy for the late February Saturday night concert, but the ticket demand became so overwhelming that Rialto staff managed to convince Guy to schedule a second show.
Now 86, Guy was the recipient of the 2015 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and his incredible career spans over 50 years with just as many albums released.
His career highlights include eight Grammy Awards, 38 Blues Music Awards, the most any artist has had, a Kennedy Center Honors, NARM Chairman’s Award for Sustained Creative Achievement, Billboard Music Awards' Century Award for distinguished artistic development, Presidential National Medal of Arts, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to name a few.

"At 86 years young, Guy proves that it gets greater later as he continues to record and tour around the world with performances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater and more," Rialto's marketing team proclaimed.
Last year, the multi-Grammy Award-winning blues icon Guy celebrated his seventh #1 album THE BLUES DON’T LIE, released via Silvertone/RCA Records.
