Jameson's Pub Daily Specials Are Worth Trip: Ferak

After hearing buzz about Jameson's daily specials, Joliet Patch's editor tried the Monday Burger deal.

I now know why so many people were coming and going from Jameson's Pub on Joliet's Black Road.

JOLIET, IL — Around 1:30 p.m., a Jameson's Pub waitress approached my table at the outdoor dining patio. Monday's bill read $6.59. And that included the sales tax.

My first reaction was to look over my shoulder to see if any Joliet police officers were nearby. Perhaps they were ready to arrest me for theft of services.

But, believe it Joliet, you can eat a first-class, top shelf meal at Jameson's Pub on Mondays for $6 and some change.

Mondays are Jameson Pub's burger specials and after Monday's visit, I now know why so many people were coming and going from Jameson's.

These Angus burgers are terrific, and their prices are rock-bottom affordable.

These are good-sized burgers. This isn't something skimpy like you find at a White Castle or a McDonald's fast-food joint. The $6 classic burger special includes your choice of cheese, condiments and one side. I went with the fries and it was a great match.

Again, all for $6. There's also a signature burger you can get on Mondays for $8.

Jameson's Pub is located at 2755 Black Road near the intersection of Campus Drive.

No doubt, it's been a challenging year for Jameson's. The pandemic forced Joliet's indoor bars and restaurants to remain off-limits to guests from March until July.

Then, shortly after reopening, Jameson's abruptly closed for a week after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus.

Based on Monday's observations, Jameson's Pub seems like it's made a strong comeback.

Jameson's was the popular place during the lunch hour. Most people were choosing to eat inside, but I, along with a number of other guests, opted to eat on the patio, not sure how many more pleasant sunny days we have left this fall.

According to its website, Jameson's Pub in Joliet keeps its kitchen open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

But if classic burgers are not your thing, that's OK.

Jameson's features different daily specials for dine-in guests only.

Tuesday's are $11 street tacos, $9 pub tacos plus fajitas, enchiladas and burritos are on special too. Wednesday's are buy one pasta dish and get a second half-off; Thursday's are half-price pizzas valid with an appetizer or sandwich purchase; Friday's are $13 fish n chips with soup or salad or $13 grilled Mahi tacos with chips and salsa; Saturday's are $18 full slab of BBQ ribs, $13 pork chop dinner or a $12 chicken dinner, Grecian or fried; Sunday's are 75-cent traditional or boneless wings, $8 chicken sandwich with choice of side; and $2 minis: burgers, chicken or BBQ pulled pork.

As far as I'm concerned, Joliet does not have enough top-of-the-line burger restaurants.

Don't get me wrong, Hamburgerseria remains at the top of the list, and a number of people like the Burger Theory restaurant near the Interstate 80 exit at Houbolt Road. I've also eaten at the Mooyah Burger on West Jefferson Street and had a good experience here.

But after Monday's meal at Jameson's Pub, I can say with confidence that Jameson's Pub is also doing something right when it comes to Joliet burgers.
