JCA Alum Melissa McCarthy Wins People's Choice Award
The Plainfield native was named Favorite Comedic Movie Actress.

The people have spoken, declaring Plainfield native and Joliet Catholic graduate 2015’s Favorite Comedic Movie Actress.
“Bridesmaids” and “Mike and Molly” star Melissa McCarthy was the first award winner announced at last week’s People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles.
JCA paid tribute to McCarthy, a 1988 graduate of what was then known as St. Francis Academy, on its website.

“I want to thank the fans that go out and buy movie tickets and allow me to do what I do. Thanks for the job,” McCarthy said as she accepted her award. “Without you I would not have a job and I’m going to stick around as long as you have me.”
McCarthy was in good company; other winners during the Jan. 7 ceremony included Favorite Movie Actor Robert Downey Jr., Favorite Movie Actress Jennifer Lawrence and Favorite TV Icon Betty White.
