JOLIET, IL — Shortly after 4 p.m., the Joliet Police Department announced Wednesday that the Jefferson Street Bridge over the Des Plaines River was closed because it is stuck in an upright position. One-way motorists heading toward downtown Joliet must find an alternative route.

"We have no ETA at this time of when it will be re-opened," Joliet Police announced. Around 6 p.m., Joliet Police posted a social media notice informing everyone that the bridge had been fixed and was working properly.
