This Is Jefferson Street Downtown Joliet: Photo Gallery

People who cross the river into downtown Joliet are now having dreams of orange construction barrels.

JOLIET, IL - There's no place on earth with more orange road construction barrels than downtown Joliet. OK, OK, that's an exaggeration, but it just seems that way. A couple weeks ago, Joliet Patch published an article warning you that the stretch of Jefferson Street was going to be the focus of a major reconstruction project.

A several block stretch of Jefferson Street near the Will County Courthouse is where the action is at. It's an underground storm sewer improvement project.

Motorists who are crossing the one-way Jefferson Street Bridge from the west side of Joliet to the east side are usually in for a nightmare once they make it downtown.

There's lane reductions. There's hundreds of orange barrels. And there's the stoplights. There's probably a lot of people cussing to themselves inside their cars and trucks as they realize they've hit a traffic snarl that will take several minutes to pass through.

During the summer of 2017, Joliet Patch ran several photo galleries showcasing a number of downtown Joliet public infrastructure projects, but last year, motorists were relieved there wasn't as much.

Here's a handful of photos I captured on Friday afternoon.

This project is expected to last until sometime in the fall.
