Jefferson Street Motel Disturbance, Man Arrested

JOLIET, IL — A 33-year-old man who lives at the Star Inn motel on West Jefferson Street was arrested over the weekend after Joliet police say he pushed a man down a flight of stairs during an argument. Joliet police arrested Dion Wofford Jr. on Saturday on three counts of aggravated battery and two counts of battery.

Around 10 a.m. Saturday, Joliet squad cars responded to the Star Inn for a disturbance. Police say that Wofford and a 60-year-old man got into an argument and Wofford caused the man to tumble down a flight of stairs.

A 62-year-old woman tried to intervene, police said, and at that point, Wofford attacked her. The man who fell down the stairs was taken to the nearby AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center for minor injuries and the woman did not require hospitalization, reports indicate.

Wofford was arrested by police at the scene and delivered to the Will County Jail at noon. He remained in county detention on Tuesday afternoon, unable to post 10 percent of his $15,000 bail, logs show.
