Jeremy Boshears, Joliet Outlaws And A Bartender's Murder

JOLIET, IL - The filing of first-degree murder charges against 32-year-old Jeremy Boshears, a regular patron at Woody's Bar and a member of the Joliet Outlaws motorcycle club, has sparked spirited discussion over the past couple of days on social media. Boshears, a former resident of Joliet and New Lenox, was taken into custody on Thursday, shortly after the Will County Sheriff's Police located the missing Jeep of Woody's bartender Katie Kearns, who lived in rural Mokena.

Kearns vanished after tending bar Sunday night, November 12. Her body was found in the back of her Jeep. She was fatally shot once in the head.

People familiar with Boshears told Patch that he was known to carry a handgun around Coal City. There is expected to be another hearing Tuesday for the defendant in Courtroom 405, where Judge Carla Alessio Policandriotes — the veteran Will County jurist who on Saturday set a $10 million bond for the accused killer — will preside.

Brian Morency Sr. "You can’t hold the club responsible for the actions of one member. If that was the case then we could hold congress responsible for the actions of one congressman. Or throw every politician in Cook county in prison, where most of them belong."

Christopher Amati: "The Outlaws are well known for being complete scumbags. I've known that for forty years. Not all bikers are (expletives) but most are and the Outlaws are."

Ann Gore Laabs: "This Sherry Smith has been posting very ignorant comments all day about the victim. She claims to know the pos that commited this crime. She was posting what a wonderful husband and father he is. She seems very weird if you ask me. Her fb page is not real."

Bridget Garrison: "There was no need to include his wife's name and residence. As of now, as far as the public knows, she is not a suspect. If she ever is a suspect, then publish her name. If she wasn't involved, she should have her privacy."

Kenneth Donish: "Because he didn't want to talk and he got a lawyer they're putting forth that he did it why can't we wait till the trial before we hang somebody what if it was your child?"

Jessica Frankowski: "Thank you! And they held him on a concealing murder to have a reason to hold him until they could throw a murder charge on him. That’s absolute James Glasgow move. ... This 'writer' is a joke. He’s doing all he can to immediately crucify the defendant without any actual evidence being mentioned. Two arm fulls of tattoos...driving 88 in a 55 but these charge are like day and night. Complete horse(crap) article, AGAIN."

Kellie Ann Richards: "Went with Chuck Bretz office smart choice. Neal Patel is a good lawyer hope he has magic in his corner to win this case. I agree the wife may have something to do with this he maybe innocent in this murder. Never know but I’m sorry what does his tattoos and outlaw affiliation have to do with it? He is a normal human with his own choices. So why keep bringing up people who have nothing to do with this arrest. Rest In Peace sweet girl you will get justice. Not sure Carla is the best judge for the case considering her life choices with her son but whatever."

Shari Depratt: "Omg I have looked at his eyes and so now not only riding a motorcycle having tatoos and "eyes" make him a murder wow SMDH."

It warrants pointing out that Depratt is the manager of Woody's Bar, the last place Katie Kearns was seen alive. Patch ran a story last week pointing out how Woody's was being lethargic and making little effort to help the family find their missing loved one.

On Monday, she provided a written message to the Joliet Herald-News about Jeremy Boshears. The newspaper quoted her as saying, “I love that kid. I considered him my son.”
