Jiffy Lube Customer Arrested By Joliet Police On Several Charges, Vehicle Towed Away: English

After reviewing surveillance footage from the Jiffy Lube, officers developed a possible address for their suspect, Joliet police revealed.

JOLIET, IL — For the first time in recent history, the Joliet Police Department has made an arrest at the Route 59 Jiffy Lube oil change business. Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that 37-year-old Plainfield resident Katherine Young was taken into custody this week on charges with theft of services and obstructing justice. She was also cited for driving while license suspended, and Joliet police had her car towed away from the scene of her arrest.

On Wednesday, at 1:34 p.m., Joliet's officers responded to the Jiffy Lube at 2021 on Route 59 for a report of theft of services.

According to English, a woman had allegedly used stolen credit card information to pay for an oil change at the Jiffy Lube; the woman provided the credit card number to complete the transaction. However, a short time later, Jiffy Lube received a call from a man out of state who identified himself as the cardholder and he stated he had not authorized any charges at the business.

After reviewing the Jiffy Lube's video surveillance footage, Joliet's officers developed a possible address for the suspect. Officers responded to the 5400 block of Maha Court, where they spotted the woman seen in the video enter the serviced vehicle and drive away, English revealed.

Joliet police made a traffic stop in the 1100 block of North River Road. The driver initially provided a false name, but officers were able to identify her as Katherine Young, 37, Plainfield, after locating her identification and Jiffy Lube paperwork inside her purse, the Joliet police arrest reports show.

At that point, Young was taken into custody without incident. She was processed at the Joliet Police Department and later released on a notice to appear in court.
