John “Babe” P. Milavec
Passed away peacefully at Lightways Hospice Home, Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the age of 85 years.
John is survived by his two children Diane Hill and John A. (Julie) Milavec. Five grandchildren Michael Bozman, John James (Juliet) Milavec, Richard Hill, III, Rachel (Dominick) Elsner and Luke Milavec.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife and lifelong friend Geraldine “Jeri” Milavec, who passed in 2017. His two brothers Richard (Annie) Milavec and Lawrence Milavec.

Born on December 3, 1939, in Joliet, John was the son of the late John and Rose C. (nee Krasovec) Milavec. A lifelong resident of Joliet, he attended Joliet Township High School and went on to build a fulfilling life centered on family and hard work from which he never retired. John worked for several years at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Joliet before dedicating himself to his passion as the longtime owner and operator of J & J Repair. Known for his sharp mind and skilled hands, John earned the respect and trust of countless clients and friends throughout his career.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate John's life at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Monday, January 6, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials to Lightways Hospice will be appreciated. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. for interment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
