Joliet Adds Angelita's Mexican Bar & Cuisine To Its Dazzling Boulevard Place Development Near Costco

JOLIET, IL — Since last December, people driving near the Costco restore or the Olive Garden Italian Restaurant have seen a banner draped across a newly built brick building and that read proclaimed, "Coming Soon! Angelitas Mexican Bar & Cuisine." Now apparently Angelita's is ready to open but before that opens, Angelita's is leaning on the Joliet City Council to do its job, approving a Class E liquor license for their new Joliet establishment that is sure to draw traffic from nearby Plainfield as well as traffic along nearby Interstate 55.

The Joliet City Council will review the liquor license application at Monday night's meeting.

Back in March, the Angelita's Facebook page shared out a video and included the following commentary: "Angelita’s Mexican Bar & Cuisine is a vibrant, family-owned restaurant bringing the bold, authentic flavors of Mexico to your table. Paired with refreshing margaritas and a welcoming atmosphere, Angelita’s is more than a meal—it’s a celebration of culture, family, and the true taste of Mexico."

There is quite a restaurant collection now at The Boulevard. In addition to Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse opened on June 1 and on the Plainfield side of the development is the Cooper's Hawk winery. Also on the agenda for this week's City Council meeting is a Class E liquor license for the new BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse that is right near the new Angelitas.

According to Council documents, Joliet Mayor Terry D'Arcy, serving as liquor commissioner, voted in favor of issuing the Class E liquor license for Angelitas during the July meeting of his government panel. "Based on the hearing, the liquor commission feels that the issuance of the liquor license would be in the best interest of the city and therefore recommends approval of the license," D'Arcy declared.
