Joliet Amazon Worker Faces Theft Charges

Joliet police officers arrested the worker at the Amazon Fulfillment Center around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

JOLIET, IL — A 21-year-old Glenwood man remains behind bars at the Will County Jail after Joliet police said he stole merchandise from Joliet's Amazon Fulfillment Center where he worked.

Officers responded to the Amazon plant at 201 Emerald Drive at 5:01 p.m. Tuesday for a theft incident. According to police, Dominic Ruiz "was observed by loss prevention staff taking pairs of designer sunglasses out of the warehouse and placing them in his personal vehicle."

According to police reports, the Amazon employee was taken into police custody without any problems, and the missing sunglasses were recovered from his car.

Ruiz was booked into the Will County on felony charges of theft around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Glenwood resident was scheduled to have a bail hearing on Wednesday afternoon before a Will County judge.
