Joliet Store Robber Captured After Extensive Investigation: Chief Evans

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department issued a press release on Wednesday afternoon announcing it has solved the recent Cricket Wireless store robbery on Collins Street with the arrest of 59-year-old Vincent Bond. The Joliet man is now being kept in the Will County Jail charged with aggravated robbery and robbery.

"This case reflects the dedication and persistence of our detectives and officers who worked diligently to identify and apprehend the individual responsible. Crimes that threaten the safety of our businesses and employees will be thoroughly investigated and those responsible will be held accountable. I am proud of the professionalism and teamwork demonstrated throughout this investigation," Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans said in his agency's press release.

To recap the crime, at 12:47 p.m. Feb. 7, officers responded to the Cricket Wireless store at 425 Collins St. for a robbery that just occurred.

An employee reported that an unknown man entered the store with one hand concealed under his jacket, which the employee believed indicated a weapon. The robber demanded money from the register. Over $1,000 in cash was taken, and the suspect fled the area on foot. No injuries were reported, according to Joliet police.

The suspect shown in the photograph was described as a male, approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 with a skinny build and short brown curly hair. He was wearing a gray and black Adidas hoodie, black jogger pants, blue tennis shoes, black sunglasses, and a black neck gaiter used to conceal his face.
