JOLIET, IL — A 16-year-old Joliet boy struck and killed while riding his bicycle along Joliet's busy stretch of truck traffic on Route 53 has been identified by the Will County Coroner's Office as Jo'Ovyonne Kortize Du'shon Williams. Monday morning's crash happened around 8:45 a.m. at Route 53 and Rachel Avenue. By Monday evening, the Illinois State Police said that a 64-year-old Countryside man was driving a 2007 GMC truck with a flatbed trailer.
"The pedestrian failed to yield to traffic as he rode a bicycle directly into lane 1," a state police news release indicated. "Without warning, the pedestrian rolled his bicycle directly in front of Unit 2. As a result, Unit 2 struck the pedestrian on the bicycle. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene by the Will County Deputy Coroner."
