Joliet Central Football Player Brought Gun--or Look-Alike Weapon--to High School Camp: Cops
Police and prosecutors are trying to determine whether the gun brought to a football camp by a high school student was real or not.

A Joliet Central High School student brought a gun, or a look-alike firearm, to a summer football camp, police said.
The student, a juvenile, brought the weapon to camp at the end of July, said Joliet police Cmdr. Al Roechner, and the law became aware of it last week.
Since then, the police have met with the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office about the case.

“We’re aware of the case,” said Charles B. Pelkie, the spokesman for the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office.
“It’s under investigation, it’s under review,” Pelkie said, “but no charges have been filed at this point.”

The teen showed the weapon off to other students but did not threaten anyone, Roechner said.
