Joliet Central Student Sets State Archery Record

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Central High School has recognized junior Maverick Lewis for his performance at the Illinois Target Archery Association (ITAA) State Indoor Championships. The championships took place this past weekend. Lewis earned three U18 Male State Champion titles during the competition. He also recorded the top compound male score across all age divisions.

Lewis set a new Illinois state record in the 25-meter indoor event. His achievements include the 2026 ITAA JOAD Indoor U18 State Champion title and the 2026 ITAA State Indoor All Ages U18 Champion title. He was also named the 2026 ITAA 25M Indoor U18 State Champion. Additionally, Lewis secured the 2026 ITAA All Ages Indoor State Championship, Compound Male Top Score.

Lewis is a high honor roll student at Joliet Central High School. He is also a member of the school’s STEM Club. Outside of his academic commitments, Lewis competes nationally in archery. He trains six days a week to prepare for competitions.

Lewis is affiliated with Team Strictly Archery and Beyond the X. His next competition will be the USA Archery Indoor Nationals. Following this, he is scheduled to compete at the Vegas Shoot in March. Joliet Central High School expressed congratulations to Lewis for his accomplishments.
