Joliet Central Wrestler Damaris Stanley headed to State

Stanley has placed in the top three in every tournament this season

Joliet Central High School Wrestler Damaris Stanley is headed to the IHSA State Wrestling Tournament, which will take place this Thursday through Saturday in Champaign, Illinois. He and the rest of the JCHS Wrestling Team is coached by Gardner Coughlen, Pat McGovern, and Tim Klahn.

Stanley has placed in the top three in every tournament this season. He placed 2nd at Pontiac, Regionals, and Sectionals. He placed 3rd at the Geneva and Stagg competitions. He was 5-0 in the Dekalb Duel Team Tournament. He also holds a 39-6 record going into the State Wrestling Tournament.

McGovern said, “Damaris has worked hard all year to get to this point. He has consistently been in the lineup and at practice all year working hard. He is a leader of this program.”

Joliet Central High School will cheer him on with a send-off on Wednesday afternoon on February 13. JTHS congratulates Damaris Stanley on his success and wishes him the best as he proceeds to the IHSA State Finals.
