Hood made a left turn into the path of the Joliet police Explorer and then braked to stop. The Explorer then struck the front passenger side of the Traverse.

An uninvolved pickup truck was stopped in the inside lane of eastbound West Theodore Street waiting to turn left onto northbound Brighton Lane at the time of the crash, English noted.

Hood was uninjured and refused medical attention. The officer was taken by a Joliet Fire Department ambulance to St. Joe's hospital with a foot injury.

Hood was cited for failure to yield-turning left, English noted.
