JOLIET, IL — A Plainfield area man is in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say 36-year-old Donald Noordhof punched a police officer in the head after officers got sent to the Super 8 Motel early Saturday evening, according to police spokesman Dwayne English.

Noordhof, who lives in the 1800 block of Beckwith Court, in the Plainfield area of Joliet, was booked into the county detention facility at 6:27 p.m. on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, obstructing justice and resisting arrest.

The disturbance call leading to Noordhof's arrest took place around 5 p.m. The Super 8 Motel is at 3401 Mall Loop Drive.

According to Sgt. English, Noordhof was an intoxicated motel guest bothering the other motel guests. After officers arrived at the call to address the situation, they escorted Noordhof back to his room, but "while in the room, Noordhof grew belligerent towards officers. Noordhof then shoved an officer and punched the officer in the head," Joliet police indicated.

At that point, Joliet police tried to put Noordhof into handcuffs, "but he resisted by refusing to put his hands behind his back," English indicated in Monday's press release.

Following a struggle inside the hotel room, Joliet police put Noordhof in custody and gave him a ride back to the Joliet Police Station "where he refused to cooperate with booking procedures," Sgt. English announced.

As of Monday night, Noordnhof remained in his cell at the county detention center, where he's unable to post 10 percent of his $15,000 bail, jail logs show.
