Joliet Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra Makes Decision On Whether To Seek Re-Election In District 5

JOLIET, IL —Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra has announced her campaign for re-election to the Joliet City Council, representing District 5.

“I am running for re-election because I love District 5, I believe in Joliet, and I believe our residents deserve someone who will listen to them and stand up for them,” Ibarra said.

Since taking office, Ibarra has focused on the issues that matter most to District 5 residents, including:

• Safer neighborhoods and public safety
• Better streets, sidewalks and lighting
• More investment and opportunities in District 5
• Responsible development
• Protecting Joliet’s waterways and natural resources
• Giving residents a stronger voice in City Hall

Ibarra established the District 5 Advisory Council to give residents a direct voice on neighborhood issues and has consistently advocated for greater investment and attention to the district.

She also became the only Joliet City Council member to vote against the proposed data center, after listening to residents’ concerns and calling for greater transparency throughout the process.

“I was elected to represent the people of District 5, and that is exactly what I have done,” Ibarra said. “I have listened, I have asked questions, and when I believed something was not in the best interest of our residents, I have been willing to stand alone.

“I am proud of what we have accomplished, but there is still work to do. I want to continue fighting for good streets, safe neighborhoods, responsible growth and the investment District 5 deserves.”

“I love this community. I believe in its future. And I am asking the residents of District 5 for the opportunity to continue serving them.”

Ibarra is seeking re-election to the Joliet City Council representing District 5.
