Joliet Driver Charged in Crash that Killed Plainfield Motorcyclist
The 58-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence and improper left turn.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet woman has been charged in connection to a fatal crash that occurred early Sunday morning in Joliet.
Kathy A. Molitor, 58, of the 4600 block of Lalique, has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving under the influence of alcohol and improper left turn after a crash Sunday that left a Plainfield motorcyclist dead, according to Joliet Police Chief Brian Benton.
Jaime Mendez, Jr., 36, was pronounced dead Sunday at 12:59 a.m. at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center Emergency Room in Joliet, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.

Mendez was the driver of a motorcycle traveling northbound on Route 59 at the intersection of Country Glen in Joliet when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Molitor.
The Joliet Police Department is investigating the incident.

An autopsy will be performed Monday. The final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later date pending police, autopsy and toxicological reports.
Funeral home arrangements are pending at this time.
