Joliet Embarks On Another Water Main Project That Will Impact Travelers Until Late September

JOLIET, IL — The City of Joliet Public Utilities Department will begin construction of a water main on Henderson Avenue as part of the Washington Street Water Main Replacement Project
beginning on Monday, August 17.
The project includes work to replace the watermain on Henderson Avenue from Cass Street to Washington Street. Henderson Avenue will be closed to thru traffic from Washington Street to Cass Street. Washington Street will be closed to thru traffic from Miller Avenue to Akin Avenue. Local detours will be posted.

The watermain replacement work for this section of Henderson Avenue and Washington Street is anticipated to be completed by September 28, 2026. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes for the duration of the work. We appreciate your patience and ask that you drive slowly and cautiously through any construction zone.
