Woman Slain In Joliet Home ID'd By Coroner
The man accused of killing her inside her house in the 1100 block of Westshire remains at St. Joe's hospital as Joliet police watch him.

JOLIET, IL — The 40-year-old woman who was killed during a late night homicide inside her house in the 1100 block of Westshire Drive, on Joliet's west side near Clara Avenue, has been identified as Alicia L. Cole.
Joliet police were called to Cole's home after receiving a 911 call from her after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. During her final moments alive, Cole told Joliet police that a man was trying to enter the home. Police found a large window in the front of the home broken out, but said they believe he forced entry through the front door.
Police saw a 47-year-old man, later identified as the killer, inside the home and said he complied with officers’ orders to exit the home through the front door.

Police found the unresponsive 40-year-old victim in the bathroom with multiple gunshot wounds. As for Cole's killer, police said he was taken to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center for injuries the Joliet police believe he suffered when breaking the front window.
He remains hospitalized and under police watch, and officials said charges are pending.
