JOLIET, IL — Members of the Joliet Fire Department put out structure fires and respond to car crashes with injuries, but they also want to be known for their public service across the city. On Monday, Joliet's Fire Department continued an annual Christmas holiday tradition. For the 28th year, Joliet firefighters visited St. Joe's hospital to bring holiday cheer to patients who have to spend their Christmas holiday in the hospital.

The Joliet Fire Department provided gifts and candy canes to several people in the emergency room as well as the pediatric floor of the hospital.

Among those taking part in Monday's event were newly promoted Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey, Capt. Ron Fox, Capt. Matt Ehrsam and Lt. Eric Mattson and Santa Claus.
