Joliet Had Another House Fire This Weekend, This Is Where It Happened

JOLIET, IL —It's not uncommon for the Joliet Fire Department to put out a few house fires on any given weekend. This past weekend, there was only one.

According to Battalion Chief Nick Carbaugh, at 7:27 p.m. on Friday, the Joliet Fire Department responded to the 800 block of Cora Street for a structure fire.

A neighbor noticed smoke coming from the back of a
residence. Company 5 arrived within 3 minutes of the call and found smoke coming from the roof and rear of the house. Crews initially performed an offensive attack on the structure. The battalion chief noted that his crews were met with fire and smoke conditions as they entered the first floor of the building. Crews performed interior fire operations, ventilation operations, savage and overhaul.

The fire was quickly brought under control within five minutes of arrival. An occupant safely exited from home
prior to the Joliet Fire Department's arrival. Crews remained on the scene for an hour. There were no injuries to report. The fire caused smoke and water damage to home.

Fire crews from stations 1,5,6, and 8 responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
