JOLIET, IL — If it seems like the Joliet Fire Department is running from one structure fire to the next, that's because it's absolutely true. After putting out Thursday's fire that destroyed the Union Sign and Print Company on Eastern Avenue, the first day of February has brought two more house fires, one overnight on Addleman Drive and now one back on the east side at 1350 Elgin Avenue.

According to Joliet Fire Battalion Chief Paul Yanak, at 12:42 p.m. on Sunday, the Joliet Fire Department responded to 1350 Elgin for the structure fire.

Company 4 arrived and saw smoke and fire coming from the rear of the building. They found a fire burning up the exterior of the rear of the house and was spreading up under the eaves. Yanak said they knocked down the fire on the exterior of the house and then stretched their handline inside to check for fire extension. Crews were able to quickly knock down the main body of fire.

No injuries were reported from this incident. The Red Cross was notified to provide shelter for the family that was displaced from this incident, the Joliet Fire Department revealed.

The initial crews remained on the scene for about 1 hour.
