"Officers observed the female victim fleeing the apartment," police spokesman Dwayne English said. "Officers encountered Mitchell near the front door to the apartment and gave him commands to submit to arrest.

English said that Mitchell ignored the officer's command and ran back into the apartment, closing the door behind him. Officers followed Mitchell into the apartment, took him into custody. Although Mitchell is being charged with home invasion, his records at the Will County Jail listed him as having an address at the same apartment in the 800 block of Kelly Avenue as well.
