Joliet I-80: Truck Crash Near Houbolt Dumps Salt On Road

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that a semi-trailer crash along the Joliet stretch of Interstate 80 is causing major delays on Tuesday afternoon. The wreck happened along westbound I-80 near Houbolt Road, police said.

The Illinois State Police is handling the investigation. "Please seek an alternative route until the scene is cleared," Joliet Police advised at 1:55 p.m.

The Joliet Fire Department's Local 44 Facebook page indicated that a semi delivering a load of road salt collided with a car. Both vehicles were traveling westbound. The semi rolled on its side and dumped salt across westbound lanes of traffic near mile marker 127.
