JOLIET, IL — Most of you probably saw this coming.
Unable to compete with other big box stores, Kmart on W. Jefferson St. in Joliet is closing its doors. The closure is one of 64 stores across 28 states permanently shuttering.
According to a report from Business Insider, the stores will begin liquidation sales Sept. 22 and close completely in mid-December.

In total, six Kmarts in Illinois are set to close, including Tinley Park, Macomb, Chicago, Springfield and New Lenox.
Kmart currently has around 870 stores in operation, down from 1,300 in 2012, according to Business Insider.
