Joliet Man, 55, Falls Asleep At Wheel, Arrested For Felony DUI: JPD
Joliet police woke the driver and identified him as 55-year-old Fernando Medina, Joliet arrest reports show.

JOLIET, IL — A 55-year-old Joliet man who had no business driving a car was arrested Saturday evening after he fell asleep behind the wheel, Joliet police reports show.
The incident prompting the felony arrest of Fernando Medina on charges of aggravated DUI, DUI and DUI-BAC over 0.08 happened around 6:50 p.m. at Mack Street and Mason Avenue, not far from Medina's house in the 500 block of Mack Street.

- Officers were called to the intersection of Mack Street and Mason Avenue for a report of a man who appeared to be asleep at the wheel of a Hyundai Tucson.
- Officers woke the driver and identified him as Medina.
- Joliet police saw an open alcohol container inside his car, and Medina displayed signs of alcohol impairment.
- He completed field sobriety tests and was then taken into custody.
- Medina’s driver’s license was already revoked for a past DUI.
- Joliet police also cited Medina for illegal transportation of alcohol by driver and driving while license revoked. Medina's car was towed from the scene.
According to Will County Jail records, Medina was let out of detention around 5 p.m. Sunday, after posting 10 percent of his $20,000 bail.
