Joliet Man Arrested Twice On Friday the 13th: Police

After the arrest Pete Figueroa indicated a threat to harm himself, so he was taken to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, police said.

JOLIET, IL — Friday the 13th turned out to be an unlucky day for Joliet 43-year-old resident Pete Figueroa as the Joliet police arrested him, not just once, but twice.

Around 2 p.m., Joliet police brought Figueroa to the Will County Jail on charges of domestic battery and aggravated resisting a peace officer. Officers were called to a house in the 200 block of Dwight Avenue for a domestic disturbance.

  • Figueroa had pushed a 75-year-old woman into a door during an argument that occurred in the residence. An officer tried to place Figueroa into custody at which time he resisted by refusing to allow his hands to be cuffed. Figueroa was eventually placed into custody without further incident. Shortly after being placed into custody, Figueroa indicated a threat to harm himself, so he was taken to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department for an evaluation. He was released later in the day and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
  • Earlier that day, around 8:30 a.m., Figueroa was arrested by Joliet police and released on a cash bond for a Kankakee County arrest warrant.
  • Joliet officers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet pickup for an expired registration near North Broadway Street and Marble Street. Figueroa was the driver. Officers learned that Figueroa held an active Kankakee County arrest warrant for missing court on previous criminal charges and he was placed into custody without incident.
  • Figueroa also held a suspended driver’s license. He was cited for this as well as Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Expired Registration.
  • Figueroa was processed at the Joliet Police Department and released after posting $300 cash bond.
