JOLIET, IL — A 59-year-old Joliet man, Juan Ortega, is now lodged in the Will County Jail facing two counts of domestic battery and two counts of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence. Ortega's arrest happened around 5:20 p.m. Sunday at his residence in the 1000 block of Hacker Avenue on Joliet's east side off Woodruff Road.

Joliet police say Ortega attacked a woman he knows as well as a 16-year-old.

"Ortega was intoxicated and became angry with (the woman) during an argument," Joliet police reports show. "The female victim attempted to call 911 at which time Ortega restrained her by her arms and held her to the couch."

When the woman advised Ortega's relative to call 911, "Ortega then threw (the teenager) to the ground by his clothing in an attempt to block him from calling 911," Joliet police reports show.

By the time Joliet police arrived at the disturbance call on Hacker Avenue, Ortega ran from his house, however, "officers were sent back to the residence after Ortega had returned to the home. Ortega was placed into custody without incident," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said.
