Joliet Man Breaks Chairs At McDonald's On Jefferson: Cops

JOLIET, IL — For the third and fourth times this month, Joliet police officers have arrested 41-year-old Joliet resident Jarrod Barnes. On Friday, Barnes began throwing and breaking chairs at the McDonald's on West Jefferson Street, police reports show. On Saturday night, he damaged property at the scene of last week's arrest, Harrah's Casino in downtown Joliet.

Around 3:35 pm., Friday, Joliet officers were sent to the McDonald's at 1515 W. Jefferson St. because Barnes was inside the restaurant playing loud music that contained vulgar lyrics, Joliet police said. When a McDonald's manager asked Barnes to turn off his vulgar music, he began to threaten the McDonald's staff with physical harm, police said.

"Barnes then began throwing chairs in the restaurant, eventually breaking one of the chairs, and staff called 911. Barnes was still on scene and was taken into custody without incident," police report show.

Joliet officers arrested Barnes on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property. He was released from the police station on an I-bond.

On Saturday night, just two blocks from the Joliet police station, officers were called to Harrah's Casino because Barnes had returned there following last week's arrest where police say he attacked a security guard and broke the employee's eyeglasses during a confrontation.

Around 9:35 p.m., Joliet police learned that Barnes was damaging property at the Harrah's, police reports indicate.

"Officers determined that Barnes entered the casino property, at which time he damaged a decorative waste container and then fled from the property," police reports state.

On Sunday, around 9:45 p.m., Joliet officers spotted Barnes near South Chicago Street and Fourth Avenue, and he was put in handcuffs. This time, Barnes was brought to the Will County Jail and charged with the felony offense of criminal damage to property.

Barnes remained in county detention on Monday evening, jail logs show.

Barnes was also incarcerated at the Will County Jail from Nov. 3 through Nov. 9 after Joliet police arrested him on charges of theft, retail theft, aggravated assault and assault.

Barnes lives on the city's west side, in the 400 block of Kungs Way.

On Monday, a Will County judge set Barnes' new bail at $3,000.
