Plainfield Woman Stabs Joliet Man, 24, In His Shoulder: JPD
Esmeralda Roman, 24, of Plainfield, faces two felonies in connection with the non-fatal stabbing on Gilray Drive on Joliet's far west side.

JOLIET, IL — A 24-year-old Plainfield woman is accused of thrusting a knife into the shoulder of a man she's had a romantic relationship, according to Joliet police. The victim, who is the same age as Esmeralda Roman, did not suffer life-threatening injuries during the violent episode that happened late at night Jan. 21.
Joliet police hauled the young woman away from the property in handcuffs, and the Will County State's Attorney's Office has charged Roman with aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery.
Around 10:55 p.m., Joliet officers were notified that someone was stabbed at a house in the 1300 block of Gilray Drive, which is near South County Line Road.

At the property, officers found the 24-year-old man had suffered two stab wounds to his shoulder. He was rushed by Joliet Fire Department ambulance to St. Joe's hospital.
"The victim initially reported that he had stabbed himself, but after further investigation, it was believed that the victim was stabbed by ... Roman, during a domestic incident in the home," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English announced.

Roman comes from the 21600 block of West Joyce Court in Plainfield.
After staying overnight in the Will County Jail, Roman got released the following afternoon, on Jan 22, after posting 10 percent of her $10,000 bail.
She has hired private Joliet defense counsel, Eric Blatti of The Law Office of Eric J. Blatti, to represent her.
