JOLIET, IL —Hector Haro, a 26-year-old Joliet man from the 1200 block of Devonshire Drive, will remain in the Will County Jail indefinitely after Will County Judge Chrystel Gavlin agreed with the Will County State's Attorney's Office that the gun defendant must be detained under the dangerousness standard of the SAFE-T-Act.

Following his Joliet police arrest last week, Haro has remained in the Will County Jail facing three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

According to Assistant Will County State's Attorney Steven Platek, Joliet police officers responded to a call last Wednesday, March 18, involving someone hitting himself and stating he wanted to take his own life at Haro's residence.

Officers arrived at the house on Devonshire and saw Haro's father trying to keep control of him, prosecutors said. Both Haro's mother and father indicated he had been acting aggressively and needed a mental health evaluation, the court documents show.

Haro was initially taken to St. Joe's hospital by a Joliet Fire Department ambulance. His parents also consented to a search of his bedroom, and officers recovered a .40 caliber Glock handgun and 111 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition, plus another 50 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, prosecutors noted.
