Joliet Man Head-Butts Joliet Police Officer: Complaint
This Joliet man previously spent eight months in the Will County Jail until his release in April.

JOLIET, IL —A 45-year-old Joliet homeless man who is a familiar face to the Joliet Police Department now finds himself in the Will County Jail in connection with allegations that he attacked two Joliet Police officers on Dec. 21.
The Will County State's Attorney's Office has charged Charles Boatman III with two counts of aggravated battery in connection with the incident. The criminal complaint indicates that Boatman grabbed Joliet Police Officer Stephen Boe "about the body" while the officer was in the performance of his official duties.
During the same incident, Boatman is accused of trying to injure another Joliet officer, Benjamin Koepke, "in that he head-butted Benjamin Koepke about the face," the criminal complaint states.

Bail was set at $35,000 for Boatman, and he remains unable to post 10 percent.
Boatman previously spent eight months in the Will County Jail after Joliet Police arrested him in August 2018 on multiple charges of aggravated domestic battery against a victim who is a senior citizen and multiple counts of domestic battery, jail logs reflect.

Although jail logs listed Boatman as living in the 1800 block of Asbury Circle Drive apartments, Boatman filled out court papers indicating he is currently homeless.
