Joliet Man Killed In Nightclub Shooting, Gary Authorities Say
The 34-year-old was one of two victims who died in the shooting Sunday in Gary, officials said.
GARY, IN — A Joliet man is one of two people who died after a nightclub shooting over the weekend in Gary, according to police, who noted four people were also injured in the incident.
The deceased were identified as Jonte Dorsey, 34, of the 300 block of Richards Street in Joliet, according to the Lake County (Indiana) Coroner’s Office, and Jah’Nice Quinn, 26, of Merrillville, WLS reported.
Shots rang out just before 2 a.m. Sunday at Playo’s Nightclub in the 1700 block of Grant Street, according to police. Dorsey and Quinn were taken to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead, police said. The other four victims — one of whom was in critical condition— were brought to area hospitals, according to police.

Mayor Jerome Prince has ordered the temporary closure of Playo’s, he said in a prepared statement.
“We will thoroughly investigate the Saturday night incident and determine our next steps,” he said in the statement.

Prince called for national legislation that would curb access to firearms and said local officials would track how many calls were made to police from certain businesses.
“If their operations are jeopardizing our communities, we will hold them accountable, too,” he said in the statement.
