Joliet Man Killed While Working at CenterPoint: Coroner

The 22-year-old was pronounced dead in the Presence St. Joseph emergency room.

A Joliet man was killed while working at CenterPoint Intermodal Center Friday afternoon.

Jeremy Hughes, 22, was pronounced dead shortly before 5 p.m. in the Presence St. Joseph Medical Center emergency room.

“Initial reports indicate he was involved in a work-related mishap,” according to a statement released by Will County Coroner Patrick O’Neil’s office.

An official said Hughes was “crushed.”

Hughes’ Facebook page said he started working as a spotter for ISA in 2014. ISA, Intermodal Services of America, “does contract switching for Union Pacific” Railroad in Joliet and Chicago, according to the United Transportation Union.

The Joliet police were handling the death investigation and an autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.
