Joliet Man Points Gun At Teenage Relative: Police Say

JOLIET, IL — A 43-year-old Joliet man who lives in the St. Patrick's Neighborhood Area is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say he injured a teenage relative during an argument and threatened to shoot her with his gun. Anthony Love, who resides in the 300 block of Hunter Avenue, was taken to the Will County Jail around 5:20 a.m. Thursday on charges of aggravated assault, theft and domestic battery, according to the Joliet Police Department.

Back on Tuesday, around 12:50 a.m., Joliet police responded to Silver Cross Hospital after being alerted to a domestic battery. The 18-year-old victim had gone back to her house with several friends on Hunter Avenue about two hours earlier, police said.

"The victim was locked out of the house by Love ... Love was upset over a previous argument involving the victim," Joliet police reports show. "As the victim was talking to Love in the front doorway, Love slammed the door on her foot causing injury. Love then allowed the victim in the house but then took several items, Apple Watch and Airpods, from her. At one-point Love pointed a firearm at her, threatened to shoot her, and then told her to leave."

At that point, the young woman went to Silver Cross Hospital for a possible broken foot, police said.

Then, around 3:10 a.m. Thursday, Joliet police cars responded to Love's residence on Hunter Avenue because he was having chest pains, reports show. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance took Love to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center for treatment.

"Once Love was cleared from the hospital, he was placed into custody for the above charges," Joliet police stated.
