Joliet Man Put Knife Against Girlfriend's Neck: Complaint
Kevin D. Reed has been in Will County's Jail four times in 2019, jail logs show.

JOLIET, IL — For the fourth time this year, Kevin D. Reed of Joliet remains behind bars at the Will County Jail, this time he's facing charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery. The criminal complaint accuses Reed of striking his 26-year-old girlfriend about the body and placing a knife up against her neck, leaving the woman in reasonable fear of suffering a battery, court documents state.
Reed's total bail is set at $55,000. He has remained in the county jail since his Nov. 21 arrest by the Rockdale Police Department.
A Will County judge has granted an order of protection for the victim, which bars Reed from contacting her or visiting her place in Rockdale.

"I am afraid of Kevin because he says that he will kill even though he knows there are order of protections in place," the woman wrote the judge. "I am afraid that he will keep his word and burn the house down with me in it.
"I am afraid that he might kidnap my son. I am afraid that if he sees me in public with my service dog he will hurt the dog and me."

The order of protection petition also states that on Nov. 15, "Kevin was threatening me with a wrench and a knife saying that he was going to hurt me."
On Nov. 20, the victim informed the judge, "Kevin was trying to drag me to (a) hidden area but I pushed him away and I was able to let (go). A person that was watching was yelling asking what was going on do Kevin ran away. I called 911, the police came and took the report and advised me to get an order of protection.
"To my knowledge, I thought there was an order of protection in place till 2020."
Although Will County Jail logs list Reed as residing at his girlfriend's Rockdale residence on Orr Street, court documents identify the defendant as being a homeless resident of Joliet.
Most recently, Reed was in custody from June 6-17 after Rockdale Police arrested him on December 2017 charges of domestic battery and criminal trespass to a residence, jail record indicate.
