Joliet Man Tore Lip From Roommate's Face: Cops
The man suspected his roommate wanted to have sex with his lady friend, who also lives with them, police said.
A Joliet man tore the lip off his roommate’s face after he grew suspicious that the 61-year-old man wanted to have sex with his lady friend, police said.
Bernard Castleberry, 59, his 61-year-old roommate, and Castleberry’s 56-year-old lady friend all live in the same North Broadway house, police said.
The three were “sitting around” early Monday morning, police said, and “had been drinking” when Castleberry accused the roommate of desiring to have sex with his lady friend.

The woman tried to get Castleberry to go to bed, police said, and Castleberry responded by grabbing her by the arm. The roommate then intervened and Castleberry allegedly struck him in the face so savagely that he tore the lip from the man’s face.
“The lip was totally detached,” police said, and the man “had blood all over his shirt.”

The wounded man was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Castleberry was arrested on charges of aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery, and carted off to the Will County jail.
