Joliet Montessori School Recognized for Coveted AMI Certification
JMS remains the only dual-certified Montessori school in Will County

Joliet Montessori School (JMS) has received recognition for its current certification by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) for the 2017-2018 school year, acknowledging that the JMS Elementary program is in full compliance with the Association’s high standards for Montessori education. Since JMS is also certified by the American Montessori Society (AMS), it remains the only dual-certified Montessori school in the area.
The AMI site reads, in part, that “…the AMI school recognition program was initiated in the United States to assist parents in assessing whether schools are following Montessori’s principles and practices in their original integrity and completeness.” Considered the most difficult certification to earn, AMI credentials are a source of great pride for JMS.
Head of School Heidi Geiger remarked, “JMS values this recognition very highly. It’s a reflection of our commitment to a complete Montessori curriculum, and we’re delighted to offer such an enriching program for all our students. This recognition is a testament to faculty, student body and community of parents who make JMS such a special place.”
