JOLIET, IL —The learning won’t stop for a pair of longtime music-and-dance businesses, and neither will the lessons.
BDA Dance and J&B Music, located side-by-side at 3500 Caton Farm Road, have announced their lessons have temporarily moved online as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19.

“Look, we’re parents too. We know keeping young people engaged when school is closed will be crucial to their development. We just want our students to know we’re here for them,” said Joe Lottino, 38, owner of J&B music, a shop offering professional instrument lessons and vinyl record sales.
Lottino’s sister, Katie Shaw, operates the adjacent BDA Dance, originally founded in Joliet by the siblings mother, Beth Lottino.

The pair have worked nonstop to gather their instructors for live-streamed and pre-taped custom lessons.
For Shaw, classes that will be live-streamed include ballet, tap, jazz, Hip-Hop and much more.
“We implemented a video sharing app for all of our weekly dance classes in the beginning of the season. It’s interactive, very useful, and a lot of fun,” she said.
BDA will also be utilizing Facebook Live to offer free online dance classes at 6 p.m. on weekdays.
Says a BDA mom about her daughter's live-streamed lessons: “It’s the happiest I’ve seen her this week! Thanks BDA for a great 30 minutes!"
